Police in Thyolo have arrested 40-year-old Kasowa Madengu after finding him in possession of cannabis without perimmission.

Police spokesperson Rebecca Kashoti said the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on April 7, 2025 in Thyolo Boma and surrounding areas. Acting on a tip-off, officers searched Madengu’s house and found two plastic bags containing compressed cannabis.

Madengu, who comes from Mpando Village under Senior Chief Nchilamwela in Thyolo District, is currently detained at Thyolo Police Station awaiting court proceedings.

Kashoti warned the public that possessing cannabis without a license remains illegal and encouraged communities to report drug-related activities to authorities.
