Ngoni King sets 320 million budget for Umthetho festival

Preparation for 2025 Umthetho are in full swing, following an official announcement by Ngoni monarch, Inkosi ya makosi M’mbelwa V. speaking during chiefs council meeting at Mzimba boma, the king revealed that this years edition of the iconic cerebration is pegged at 320 million budget.

Joined by his Amakhosi and other key officials, M’belwa V. emphasized the importance of unity among his people as they gear up for the festival, slatted for August 9 at the historical Hora Mountain in Mzimba district.

Mzimba Heritage Association Secretary General, Kingsley Jere, cited that part of the budget will be supported through a series fundraising events planned in major cities including Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.

The Umthetho festival remains one of the Malawi’s most vibrant cultural events, cerebrating Ngoni traditions, heritage and unity.
