Witch Doctor Arrested After His Snake Bites Man in Dowa

Police in Dowa have arrested a 56-year-old witch doctor, Fransisco Maganga, after his snake bit a 22-year-old man, who is currently in critical condition.
Police spokesperson Alice Sitima confirmed the incident.
Sitima stated that the snake bit the man on the 4th of this month at the Dzaleka market.
According to Sitima, the man’s uncle reported the matter to the police after hearing rumors that the snake belonged to the witch doctor.
After investigating the case, police questioned the witch doctor, who admitted that he used the snake to protect his fields from thieves but had escaped before the bite occurred.
The man is currently receiving medical treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital.
Maganga’s home is in Suwande village, T/A Msakambewa in Dowa.
