Speaker of parliament Chimwendo warns Members of Parliament on reckless campaign spending

The speaker of parliament Richard Chimwendo Banda has issued a stern warning to members of parliament, urging them not to squander personal finances in the  of campaign efforts.

Speaking in parliament while commenting on a a bill related to mental healthy concerns, Chimwendo Banda said that reckless spending by members of parliament especially as the election period is near, could have serious psychological consequences.

Chimwendo also expressed concerns over rising number of politicians who suffered emotional breakdown after losing elections, with some even resorting to extreme actions such as self harm due to stress of financial losses.

He emphasized that MPs who have failed to deliver meaningful development over the past five years are unlike to win over voters now simply by throwing money around.
