The Minister of Trade and Industry, Vitumbiko Mumba has encouraged Malawians to take a more active role in textile and tailoring industry. He stated that they should not leave such opportunities in the hands of foreign countries.
Speaking during a visit to Hom Apparel company in Blantyre, Mumba highlighted the unexplored potential among Malawians to produce high quality products when give the right support and guidance.
He further stated the importance of local businesses being members of the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and industry (MCCCI), knowing that such partnerships provides valuable business advice and opportunities to growth.
Brenda Chitanda the owner of Hom Apparel company, welcomed the minister’s visit, saying that it brought encouragement and renewed energy to her team.
Mumba continues to visit various businesses across Malawi, both local and foreign-owned, as part of an ongoing inspection and engagement exercise aimed at understanding operational challenges and promoting economic growth.
