Police in Lilongwe have arrested two security guards working for Times Media House on suspicion of stealing fuel from a company vehicle at the Lilongwe office on Wednesday night.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu identified the suspects as Aubrey Whitman, 25, and Amin Cassim, 36. They are suspected of siphoning 10 litres of fuel from a Times vehicle.
According to Chigalu, the two were unaware they were being monitored by CCTV cameras at the office when they pumped the fuel into containers and attempted to sneak it out using a jumbo.
One of the guards allegedly took the fuel outside to sell it around 4 a.m., but was ambushed by street children in Lilongwe town who stole the fuel from him.
The two suspects will appear before court soon.
