Woman Arrested for Stealing Flour at Bwaila Hospital

Police in Area 3, Lilongwe, have arrested a woman for allegedly stealing 25 kilograms of flour from Bwaila Hospital.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson, Inspector Hastings Chigalu, identified the suspect as 39-year-old Talita Mkuwazi.

According to police, the incident happened yesterday in the hospital’s patient waiting area. The woman pretended to be seeking dental treatment, but instead went into the kitchen, packed flour from storage bins into a bag, and attempted to leave the facility.

Security guards stopped her for a search and discovered the stolen flour. At the time, other patients had already started complaining about a shortage.

Police have since returned the flour to the rightful owners, and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of theft.
