At least 80 people lost their lives in road accidents across the country in the month of March, while 284 others sustained injuries.

Deputy National Police Spokesperson Harry Namwaza said speeding and dangerous overtaking remain the main causes of these accidents.

He added that police have procured additional cameras to monitor vehicle movement and are also conducting road safety education campaigns to help reduce accidents.

The rising number of road accidents highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and continued public awareness on road safety.

Authorities are hopeful that the new measures being implemented will help curb reckless driving and ultimately save lives.
