Tobacco farmers in Limbe are unhappy with the government-set prices as the new selling season starts. The minimum price for tobacco this year is $1.30 per kilogram, but farmers say this is too low. They are demanding at least $2 per kg to cover their costs and make a profit.

Farmers argue that last year’s prices were better, and this year’s lower rates are discouraging. Some farmers from Chiradzulu District told us they have lost hope of making good money from tobacco this season.

Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing between farmers and officials to find a solution. The Minister of Agriculture, **Sam Kawale**, is expected to officially open the tobacco market in Limbe tomorrow.

Farmers are hoping for a positive change so they can earn enough from their hard work.
