Police in Mzuzu have arrested Amos Zikomo 25 and Steve Banda 24, in connection to the murder of a Mzuzu based businessman Chiukepo Sichali.

The two were arrested on April 12, 2024 in Lilongwe.

It has been established that Sichali was a businessman who owned a grocery shop and operated mobile money business at Four Ways Trading Centre in Mchengautuwa Township in Mzuzu City.

On March 27, 2025 at around 20:30 hours on his way home from his business, it is suspected that he was shot dead by the two suspects who also robbed him K200,000.00 and three cell phones.

The issue was reported to Mzuzu Police Station and detectives have been conducting investigations which have to the arrest of the suspects in Lilongwe

A riffle(revolver) and two vehicles, Toyota Allion BX 1111 and Honda Fit MN 10492 both silver in colour which were being used during the robberies have been seized.

Other items that have been recovered are Airtel and TNM sim cards, TNM (Mobigal) agent cellphone and ten different smart phones.

The two will appear before court soon to answer the charge of murder.

Meanwhile Police in Mzuzu are assuring the general public of their safety as they are working tirelessly to curb the crime in the city.

Zikomo is from Chifila Village, Traditional Authority Kabunduli in Nkhatabay District and Banda comes from Mphwelemwe Village, Traditional Authority Nkanda in Mulanje District.
