A seasoned politician Yunus Mussa has gracefully conceded defeat to Dr. James Mpunga in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) primaries for the Zomba South constituency.

The election saw Mussa fall behind early, starting with Malindi Ward Area 27, where he only managed to secure 12 votes, compared to Mpunga’s 65. The voting continued at Bwaila Primary School, where Mussa failed to register a single vote, while Mpunga secured 15 votes.

The trend persisted at Mpotola Primary School, covering Mbedza and Mtiya areas, where Mussa again received no votes. Dr. Mpunga dominated the polls, collecting 54 votes in Mbedza and 19 in Mtiya.

With this resounding victory, Dr. James Mpunga is now confirmed as the DPP’s official parliamentary candidate for Zomba South in the upcoming general elections.

Images captured after the announcement show Mussa congratulating Dr. Mpunga, bidding him farewell with good wishes and acknowledging the outcome in a show of sportsmanship.
