Malawian music icon Patience Namadingo has expressed concern over the absence of key officials during his visit to Mangochi District Hospital on Monday afternoon where he went to fix dead Ambulances.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Namadingo said he arrived at the Mangochi District Heath Office at 2:00 PM yesterday on 14 April 2025, intending to meet senior management, but was unable to find any of them present.
He reported that he had earlier tried to reach the Director of Health Services by phone at around 11:00 AM, but his calls and a follow-up message went unanswered.
“Upon arrival, I met the Director’s secretary who told me he was not in the office. When I asked where he might be, she replied that she hadn’t seen or spoken to him the entire day and didn’t know his whereabouts,” wrote Namadingo.
He also attempted to meet the Hospital Administrator, but was informed that the administrator was still out for lunch even though it was already 2:40 PM. When he inquired about the long lunch break, the response was, “MMaybe he stopped somewhere else.
Dr. Namadingo said his final attempt was to see the District Medical Officer, but he was told the officer had gone to Monkey Bay on a field assignment.
Following the series of failed meetings, Dr. Namadingo and his team have decided to spend the night in Mangochi and plan to return to the hospital on Tuesday to try again.
The post has since sparked widespread discussion online, with many questioning the professionalism and accountability of public healthcare leadership in the district while other are advising Namdingo to take a break on this as the situation has now been politicised.
