The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Mzimba North Member of Parliament Yeremiah Chihana.
While details on the arrest remain sketchy, Acting Director General for the Bureau, Hilary Chilomba has confirmed the development.
“Yes, he has been arrested and is currently being cautioned in Blantyre,” said Chilomba.
A warrant of arrest issued by the Resident Magistrate Court in Mzuzu shows that Chihana is reasonably suspected of having committed the offence of misuse of public officer contrary to Section 25B (1) of the Corrupt Practices Act.
Chihana is also accused of failure to declare interest contrary to Section 25D (2) of the Corrupt Practices Act and Money Laundering and contrary to Section 42 (2)(C ) of the Financial Crimes Act.
