Mponela Police spokesperson in Dowa, Macpatson Msadala, confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased, 27-year-old Kumbirani Wilson, was killed in Chiyazu Village.
Msadala said Wilson, who was reportedly known for his involvement in criminal activities, was caught stealing 20 kilograms of bale tobacco.
“When villagers asked him where he got the tobacco, Wilson allegedly confessed that he had stolen it from a field in Kachipapa Village,” Msadala said.
