Chakwera Reshuffles MERA and Other Key Statutory Boards

President Lazarus Chakwera has made key appointments to various statutory corporation boards, with notable changes at the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) and other institutions.

According to a government statement signed by the Comptroller of Statutory Corporations, Peter Simbani, Charles David Kambauwa has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the MERA board.

In other appointments:

  • Grace Malindi has been named Chairperson of the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) board.

  • Henderson Medson Moyo is the new Chairperson of the Council for National Herbarium and Botanic Gardens (NHBG).

  • Bonface Kadzamira will now lead the board of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Corporation (SMEDCO).

These appointments reflect President Chakwera’s continued efforts to revamp leadership within key government agencies.
