Renowned Malawian Afro-pop musician Dan Lu, popularly known as Dan, has announced the release of his new single titled Akalamba  meaning “He/She Has Grown Old”.

The artist made the announcement last night on his official Facebook page, sharing the song’s artwork. However, the title has stirred controversy among some followers, who speculate that the track may be a veiled jab at former President Peter Mutharika, who is rumored to be considering another presidential run in the upcoming elections.

Responding to the backlash in the comments section, Dan Lu assured fans that the song will officially drop on Saturday, 26th April, accompanied by both audio and video releases.

The musician, who was once associated with the opposition “Blue Camp,” has recently shifted allegiance, releasing pro-government tracks such as Chakwera and Ndilomweli, praising President Lazarus Chakwera’s administration.

As anticipation builds, debates continue over whether Akalamba carries political undertones or is simply a social commentary.
