Karonga Police spokesperson Margaret Msiska has confirmed the arrest of 19-year-old Emmanuel Kaipinda for allegedly stealing a cow valued at K1.2 million from Mwakasungula Village in the district.

“On Monday morning, George Munkhondya discovered that his cow was missing after tying it up. Someone informed him that they had seen a person with a similar cow heading toward the Masoko area,” said Msiska.

Upon following the lead, the group allegedly found Kaipinda with the cow. He reportedly failed to explain where he was going with it. An angry mob then severely beat him before taking him to the Karonga Police Station.

Kaipinda, who comes from Mwalenga 1 Village in the Kyungu Chiefdom, will appear in court to face charges of theft, contrary to Section 281 of the Penal Code.
