
Police Nab Suspect in MK2.4 Million Sugar Heist, Others Still at Large

Police in Zalewa have arrested 37-year-old Chikaoneka Saidi on allegations of stealing 40 bags of sugar valued at MK2.4 million.
Neno Police Spokesperson Constable Khumbo Sanyiwa confirmed the arrest, stating that Saidi is suspected of committing the theft alongside other accomplices who are currently on the run.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on February 25, 2024, when the suspect and his accomplices allegedly stole the sugar from a trailer travelling from Zalewa to Chingeni.
The following day, Saidi reportedly called another individual, offering the stolen sugar for sale a move that ultimately led to his arrest.
Constable Sanyiwa stated that while Saidi is currently in custody, investigations are ongoing to track down his fleeing accomplices.
