Govt Yet to Receive Official Communication on Tanzania’s Trade Ban

The government has stated that it has not received any official communication from Tanzania regarding the ban imposed on agricultural products leaving that country.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Patrick Botha, said the Malawian government will reach out to Tanzanian authorities to seek clarification.

However, Botha added that Malawi is ready to engage in dialogue with Tanzania on the matter.

Tanzania has reportedly banned the entry of agricultural products from Malawi.

This development follows Malawi’s failure to lift a ban on certain Tanzanian goods, such as flour and bananas.
