Man Gets 21 Year-jail Term For Chewing Minor

The Principle Resident Magistrate Court in Mzuzu has convicted and sentenced Moja Shaibu, 65, to 21 years of imprisonment with hard labour for having sexual intercourse with a female child.
According to Mzuzu Police Station Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Cecilia Mfune, the court, through state prosecutor, Sub Inspector Samuel Juziwel, heard that the convict and the victim’s parents work as tenants for a tobacco farmer at Kalama, Enukweni in Mzimba North.
On April 11, 2025, the girl’s mother noticed blood on the daughter’s private parts as she (the mother) was bathing her.
The girl explained that Shaibu was forcing himself on her without protection for three different times and that he was giving her fresh maize each time he had sex with her,” she said.
The issue was reported to Enukweni Police Unit and Shaibu was arrested and he pleaded guilty after appearing before court.
Passing sentence, Principle Resident Magistrate Clemence Chimwenda concurred with the state saying Shaibu has to be isolated from the society.
Moja Shaibu hails from Ngwale Village, Traditional Authority Nyambi in Machinga district.
