Phwedo Arrives at Lilongwe Court Over Alleged Defilement Case

Malawian actor Tumpe Mtaya, popularly known as ‘Phwedo’, has arrived at the Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court where he is expected to face charges related to an alleged sexual relationship with a minor.

Mtaya, who appeared in handcuffs alongside another accused man, was arrested on Tuesday in Lilongwe after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint with authorities.

Images circulating online show the actor being escorted into court by police officers.

Several of his fellow actors from 4Kaya Films  including Kendal Kamwendo  were also seen at the court premises in a show of support.
