Update: Phwedo’s Case Moved to Higher Court Due to Public Interest

The defilement case involving comedian Tumpe Mtaya, popularly known as Phwedo, has been moved from the Senior Resident Magistrate Court to the Chief Resident Magistrate Court in Lilongwe to accommodate the large number of people attending the proceedings.

The case failed to commence as scheduled today as the court awaited the arrival of the presiding magistrate.

Phwedo was arrested last Tuesday on allegations that he defiled a 15-year-old girl.

The Actor remains in custody as the high-profile case continues to draw significant public attention as some people are believing it to be a stunt.
