Industrial Relations Court in Blantyre has awarded three Press Corporation (PCL) former executives, George Partridge, Bernard Ndau, and Elizabeth Mafeni, over K14 billion for unfair dismissal.
The three were fired from their positions as Chief Executive Officer for Partridge, Group Financial Controller for Mafeni, and Company Secretary for Ndau in 2021. They took the matter to court, demanding K33 billion for unfair dismissal.
However, the court has awarded them K14 billion, translating to approximately K8 billion for Mafeni, K4 billion for Patridge, and K3 billion for Ndau.
Lawyer representing the three John Suzi Banda of JB Suzi and Company said the court took into account the people’s salaries, working period and the unfair dismissal to arrive at the figure.
