Man Arrested for Illegal Possession of Fuel in Zomba

Police in Zomba have arrested 28-year-old Fyson Dawa after he was found in possession of 2,380 litres of fuel without a permit.
Zomba Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano said the arrest followed a tip-off from members of the public in Sakata, who alerted authorities about a suspicious truck. The vehicle was reportedly carrying 11 large and 9 small fuel drums containing 2,180 litres of petrol and 200 litres of diesel.
The truck was travelling from Kachulu to Namano at the time of interception.
According to Sipiliano, Dawa was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to illegal possession and transportation of fuel.
