Man To Spend 7 Years In Jail For Raping 16-Year-Old Girl In Dowa

The First Grade Magistrate Court in Mponela, Dowa District has convicted and sentenced a-25-year old man identified as Chisowa Samson for having sex with a-16-year old girl.
Mponera Police Station Public Relations Officer Macpatson Msadala said the court heard through the state prosecutor Sub Inspector Tionge Munthali that, on 28 January 2025 the complainant saw some strange signs on the body of her daughter.
Upon being asked the daughter revealed that she had being impregnated by the convict (Chasowa Samson) hence his arrest.
The convict admitted of having sexual with the victim.
Appearing in court, Samson pleaded guilty to the offence of having sexual.
In her submission, Prosecutor Nkhoma asked the court to give the accused a stiffer punishment to deter would be offenders.
In mitigation, Chisowa asked for court leniency saying he was the first offender.
First Grade Magistrate Talakwanji Mndala concurred with the state prosecutor and convicted Samson to 7 years imprisonment with hard labour.
Chisowa Samson, 25-years hails from Jumpha village in the area of Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa District.
