Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kasungu Central Constituency Amon Nkhata has mocked President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika over his visit to his former teacher John Zenus Ungapake Tembo.

President Mutharika visited Tembo at his Area 10 residence in Lilongwe as he was coming from Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) where he had presided over the commemorations of International Day of Peace as well as the launch of the National Peace Policy.

The visits attracted debate on the social media with others saying Mutharika went to Tembo to seek help on the challenges rocking the country.

While others said Mutharika was seeking support from Tembo ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Writing on his official facebook page, Nkhata described Mutharika’s visits as a political pressure.

“APM is desperate. He is under heavy pressure. Kenaka mumva wapita ku manda a Ngwazi yeniyen,” wrote Nkhata.

Concurring with Nkhata’s post Alfred Jiya wrote: “When desperate and pressured politician wants to create a breathing space for himself. Unfortunately anthu tawona ma ill motives behind this gesture. A wolf in a lamb’s skin. The head of this wolf is clearly exposed for every one of us to see. Your days APM are numbered. Just go ahead and start packing for a decent exit in May 2019.”

Debate continues on Mutharika’s visit.
