The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is getting popular day in day out ahead of the 2019 general election with the latest being the coming in of some notable figures in the party which include Mzuzu City Mayor William Mkandawire.

Mkandawire together with Catherine Gotani Hara, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, Khumbo Chirwa, Bannet Mwamlima were welcomed into MCP during a rally organized by the Party’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in Mzuzu.

The rally also for the first time attended by vice president, Richard Msowoya, Secretary General Gustave Kaliwo and the party’s new catch Sidik Mia.

In his speech, Chakwera appealed to MCP members to remain united and forgive each other.

“Some of the people you see me with today are those that have said much evil about me, they have done all sorts of things against me, but I have chosen to humble myself and forgive them just like God did with me. I was forgiven unconditionally and I have done likewise,” said Chakwera.

On his part, Mia said he did not join the Party bring division but to garner support for Chakwera ahead of the 2019 polls.

Mia said the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is afraid of MCP.
