Machinga District Hospital has suspended one of its health workers for allegedly having a hand in the gruesome murder of an Albino man MacDonald Masambuka.

The suspended health worker who is currently in police custody has been identified as Lumbani Kamanga.

“Management and staff of Machinga District Hospital and all health facilities have been saddened by the latest news of suspected involvement of one of our fellow staff in the killing of the young man of albino descent. As management and staff we are not happy with this suspected act and strongly condemn the malpractice.

“So far, we have suspended the suspected officer to pave way for police investigation and the office will handle the issue according to Malawi Service Regulations,” reads in part the communiqué.

Masambuka, 22, from Nakawa village in Traditional Authority Nkoola, was reported missing on March 9, 2018 and his body was found on Sunday.

Meanwhile police have recovered six bones of late Masambuka.
