The state owned Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) has for the second time sealed house of ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Mulanje South Bon Kalindo over unpaid rentals amounting to MK900, 000.

Kalindo confirmed the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country, accusing the ruling DPP of being behind the whole saga due to the recent wind brewing in the party dubbed ‘Hurricane Callista.’

According to Kalindo, MHC first sealed his house on April 24 in Mulanje claiming that he had an outstanding bill totalling K2 million.
After the discussion the figure was trimmed to MK900, 000.

“I was given a period until July 2018 to settle the bill. Surprisingly, during the early hours of today (Tuesday), MHC officials came and closed the house again. I went to pay the bill only to be told they do not work on a public holiday, yet they closed the house on a public holiday,” Kalindo was quoted as saying.

The lawmaker alleged that he had been remitting the money to MHC through one of his workers who was staying in the house. He said it was this employee who fled with the money and some items from the house.

He went further accusing the DPP of plotting to kill him, confiscate his cars by claiming he got them dubiously and that the party has lined up three women to implicate him in paternity issues.

Effort to talk to DPP spokesperson Francis Kasaila proved futile.
