The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has spent MK420 million in purchasing three units of Land Cruiser Prado VX for three Cabinet ministers.
The three are; Goodall Gondwe who is Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Jappie Mhango, Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango, who is also Democratic Progressive Party national campaign director, and Grace Chiumia of Civic Education.
Goodall was sported using the vehicle in Mzuzu during a rally organized by the party in the region during the week.
A top-of-the-range Land Cruiser Prado VX is selling at K140 million on the local market.
Ministry of Finance spokesperson, David Sado confirmed of the purchase of the said vehicles in an interview with the press.
According to Sado, the said Ministers had no vehicles.
Meanwhile analysts in the country have expressed shock over the matter.
