Former opposition People’s Party (PP) acting President Uladi Mussa has declared interest to contest for the post of Vice President in Central Region for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the much awaited national convention scheduled for July 1.

Mussa joined DPP recently after being fired from PP following his decision to declare himself President of the Party, accusing former President Dr. Joyce Banda of preparing her son to Roy Kachale to take over the party leadership.

According to information at hand, Uladi will face incumbent Vice President for Central Region Hetherwick Ntaba.

Recently DPP Vice President for the South Dr. George Chaponda made headlines when it was revealed that he has proposed to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that all the three vice Presidents should go unopposed at the convention.

Many people including analysts in the country have described Chaponda’s proposal as undemocratic.
