Social commentator cum-politician Michael Usi has declared his support to Chilima Movement, a grouping advocating for the candidature of the country’s vice President Saulos Chilima in 2019 general election.

Usi of ‘Odya zake alibe Mulandu’ confirmed of the development in a media briefing held in the commercial capital Blantyre on Thursday.

In the interview, Usi, popularly known as Manganya in the comedy circles said he held a meeting with the Vice President on the matter but denied disclosing the agenda of the meeting.

When asked as to whether he is partnering Chilima in the forthcoming polls as suggested by some chiefs in the Eastern Region, Manganya declined to comment on the matter.

Recently Chilima disclosed that he is leaving the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) citing corruption and nepotism as the main reason.

Since then Chilima has been silent on the matter.
