The district’s police spokesperson Inspector Rodrick Maida said the two unidentified persons met their fate on the morning of Friday last week.

According to Maida, community villagers spotted the two pushing a Yamaha DT 125 motor bike through unchartered route which gave them a belief that the bike was stolen.

Following that, the mob rushed to them and quizzed them as to where they got the bike but their answers were not that pleasing prompting the mob to try to apprehend them.

But in the process, the two started to run while pelting stones on the villagers who also started pelting stones back.

At the end of the chase, one of them was caught but he had already sustained injuries on the forehead and the abdomen while his colleague managed to escape unhurt.

Meanwhile, the dead body is being kept at Mangochi District Hospital pending identification.
