State Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima has denied reports hovering on various media platforms that the Roman Catholic Church is supporting his political ambitions ahead of the forthcoming 2019 tripartite election.

Recently the Catholic Church came under fire for allowing Chilima to use the church podium to advance his political agenda.

This was triggered by the remarks made by Chilima at one of the church events where he called for a change in cock in Malawian politics.
Many people described the conduct as disrespectful to God.

But speaking during a special programme aired on Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) hosted by Gospel Kazako, Managing Director, Chilima denied the claims.

“The church encourages its faithfuls to participate in politics but it will never rally behind any individual. Faith is faith, it is not like food that you should have a balanced diet,” he said.

Turning to corruption, Chilima said corruption has taken a center stage and he asked well-wishers to continue exposing it.

“First step to healing is acceptance. There are things that could be done deliberately to stop certain things from proceeding. Let’s continue expose the flaws so that people who come with solutions be able to do so. Some people had nothing in 2014 but now they are super rich. We must condemn that,” said Chilima.

He also openly denied being involved in any corruption.
