Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice President Richard Msowoya who is also Speaker of Parliament has joined United Transformation Movement, a grouping advocating for the candidature of the State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chlima in the 2019 polls.

Spokesperson for the Chilima Movement Joseph Chidant Malunga confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

According Malunga, more MCP officials will be unveiled this coming Saturday at Masintha Ground in the capital Lilongwe during the official launch of United Transformation Movement where Chilima is expected to attend.

Malunga also hinted more Malawians are flocking to the movement.

Effort to talk Msowoya on the matter proved futile.

Meanwhile 65 member of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) led by former Deputy Secretary General James Chatonda Kaunda have defected to the movement.
