Police at Muloza in Mulanje have arrested a teenage boy aged 19 for allegedly murdering his young brother.
Reports say the suspect, Alex Paul allegedly went for a drinking spree where he came back around 18:00 hours while very drunk.
On arrival at home, Paul is said to have gone on rampage assaulting his relatives including his mother.
Later he hit his young brother, Sten, on the head with a stick and also his mother and others who sustained minor injuries.
Due to serious injuries sustained by the suspect’s young brother, the family rushed him to Mulanje district hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to Public Relations Officer for Mulanje Police Grasham Ngwira, Postmortem results done at the said hospital showed that death was due to severe loss of blood following head injuries.
The suspect is still in custody and will appear before in court soon to answer murder charges that contravene section 209 of the penal code.
Alex hails from Zumbira village traditional authority Njema in the district.
