Police in Blantyre have launched a manhunt for Kamuzu Amosi Kabizozo of Chamba Village in Traditional Authority Kuntaja in the district for allegedly stabbing to death a 38–year–old Misheck Padi who lent him money.

Blantyre Police Station Public Relations Officer, Augustus Nkhwazi said on Friday that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the deceased’s home.

“According to Shadreck Padi, brother to the deceased, the incident occurred on Tuesday at around 03:00 am at Chibwana Mindano Village in Traditional Authority Kuntaja. The suspect had borrowed an undisclosed amount of money from the deceased long time ago,” said Nkhwazi.

The police spokesperson added that: “Allegedly the owner of the money made several attempts to have his money back but the suspect was not forthcoming to give it back.

“Surprisingly, on July 25, the suspect broke into the deceased’s house when he was fast asleep, stabbed him in the neck, abdomen and on the right hand before running away.”

The police publicist said well-wishers took the victim to hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility.

Nkhwazi disclosed that postmortem results conducted at Chilomoni Health Centre established that death was due to haemorrhagic shock and that investigations were currently in progress to bring the suspect to book for murder charges.

He, therefore, appealed to the general public to report any information which may help in the investigations leading to the arrest of Kabizozo.
