The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has postponed primary elections to pave way for voter registration exercise currently underway.

The primaries have been shifted to November.

According to the party’s publist Maurice Munthali, the primaries have been shifted to give their supporters a chance to register.

However, reports show that MCP incumbent parliamentarians had threatened to ditch the party if they lose the primaries.
