This year’s Mlhakho wa Alhomwe Cultural festival will be held from the 21st of October at Chonde grounds in Mulanje district.

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who is the patron of the cultural grouping is expected to attend.

Briefing the media in Blantyre, the group’s chief executive officer Muchanakhwaye Mpuluka said preparations for this year’s celebrations are already underway.

Mpuluka said at this year’s event, the group will showcase a number of newly discovered Lhomwe traditional dances like Gugudela and Nakura.

This year’s festival will be held under the theme “Culture: a Tool of Unity”.
