Member of Parliament for Karonga North Vincent Ghambi has dumped the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and joined the United Transformation Movement (UTM) of the country’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima.

Ghambi who once served as Deputy Minister of Defence under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika was welcomed in the party on Wednesday in Karonga by UTM’s regional governor Afiki Mbewe.

In his speech, Ghambi accused DPP regional governor for the North Kenneth Sanga and other top officials of spoiling the party.

He said he has no problem with Mutharika and the ruling DPP but some officials in the north including Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango.

Other notable people who also joined UTM include Frazer Chunga, Mzuzu Mzilawayingwe, Chiputula Ward councillor, former Mzuzu Deputy Mayor Mwakikunga and others.
