Police in Mzimba are hunting for unknown assailants who are suspected to have murdered two men at Manyamula in the area of Paramount Chief M’mbelwa in the district.

Mzimba Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Peter Botha said Police are investigating the deaths of two men who were separately found dead on September 8 and 9, 2018.

He said Daniel Mtonga, 32 and Yotam Nyirenda, 35 were found dead at different places in the area on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Botha said Mtonga who was a carpenter went missing two weeks ago until he was found dead with deep cuts in the head.

“Nyirenda was a watchman at one of the shops at Manyamula and was found lying dead with deep cuts in the head and his back along the road near the shop.

It is reported that Nyirenda left his post for a beer drinking joint and met his fate on his way back to the shop,” he added.

Mtonga hailed from Gwera Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Chindi while Nyirenda was from Zebedia Village in the area of Paramount Chief M’mbelwa in Mzimba District.
