A 21-year-old man is in police custody in Ntcheu for killing his own uncle following a fight between the two of them.

Ntcheu police station public relations officer, Hastings Chigalu has confirmed of the development and identified the suspect as Jonas Bernado who committed the offence on Saturday at Kakhobwe village in the district.

“On this fateful day, the deceased Yohane Jibison, was drunk and engaged himself in a quarrel with the suspect who happens to be his uncle for reasons known to themselves,” said Chigalu.

Following that, a fight broke up between the two and the deceased was heavily assaulted using a club.

Relatives and other well-wishers rushed Jibison to Ntcheu district hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A postmortem done at the facility revealed that the deceased died due to internal bleeding, secondary assault.

The suspect is in custody waiting to answer charges of murder contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
