Two people have been arrested for allegedly demanding cash from customers wishing to register their SIM Card in the ongoing free mandatory SIM Card registration launched by Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA).

According to information at hand, the said suspects were demanding MK500.00 from each customer wishing to register his/her SIM card.

Police in Blantyre have confirmed of the arrest in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

According to the police, the suspects were arrested after receiving a complaint from the affected customers.

The suspects will appear in court soon to answer charges of theft.
