Police have confirmed that a Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) biometric voters registration machine was found in Vale Logistics train in Mozambique.
Police spokesperson James Kadadzera confirmed that the kit went missing and has been recovered. Meanwhile, investigations have been opened into the matter.
The kit went missing on its way from Mwanza to Lilongwe.
According to MEC, the machine carries registered voters information.
Therefore, people fears the information might have been tampared with in an attempt to rig 2019 Tripartite Elections.
In the run up to 2014 Tripatite Elections, electronic devices containing registered voters information were also stolen from MEC Head Office in Blantyre.
The elections were marred with irregularities.
