The Malawi Electoral Commission(MEC) says voters roll verification ahead of the May 2019 will commence early December.

The development follows the end of a mass voter registration which has registered 6.8 million eligible voters.

Speaking in Kasungu when he officially opened a training for Constituency Civic Voter Education Advisors(CCVEA), MEC Commissioner Moffat Banda said the exercise, which will be conducted in four phases, will commence on 10 December.

Commissioner Banda said MEC is currently training its personel ahead of exercise.

He therefore urged all electoral stakeholders to help the commission in sensitizing the masses of the voters roll verification exercise.

According to Commissioner Banda who is also the chairperson of the Media and Civic Education Committee of MEC, centers for the voters roll verification exercise be opened for 5 days.
