The Lilongwe Resident Magistrate’s court has released on bail businessperson and owner of Pioneer Investments, Zameer Karim, Police Commissioner Innocent Bottoman and Senior Superintendent Grant Kachingwe.

Anti-Corruption Bureau ACB Senior Public Manager said Karim and Kachingwe were arrested on Tuesday whilst Bottoman was arrested on Wednesday morning
The arrest is in connection to the K1.2 billion contract to supply ration packs to the Malawi Police Service by Pioneer Investments in 2015.

The three appeared in Court on Wednesday where they were formally charged.

According to Information at hand, Botoman has been charged with fraud abuse of office and acquiring proceeds of crime while Kachingwe has been charged with one count of forgery.

Karim has been charge with one count of theft contrary to Section 271 of the Penal Code.

The case has since been committed to the High Court.
