President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has given Civil Servants and extended festive season from December 24, 2018 to January 4, 2019.

This has been disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Chief Secretary Lloyd Muhara made available to faceofmalawi reporter.

According to Muhara, the Civil Servants will wind their duties on December 21, 2018 and will report for duties on January 7, 2019.

“I have the honour to inform you that it has pleased His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi, and Minister responsible for the Public Service to grant the days between December 24 and January 4, 2019 as public holidays for Civil Servants. This means that Civil Servants will wind up their duties on December 21, 2018 and return to work on January 7, 2019,” reads in part the statement.

The statement further says that the granting of the holiday is not a declaration of public holiday.
