Main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) vice president Sidik Mia has asked the Malawi Police Service to be professional and desist from being used by ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to intimidate and disrupt opposition party rallies.

According to Mia, on Sunday police attempted to disrupt his rally in Zomba Msondole with a pretext that it was a security threat to President Peter Mutharika who was travelling to Mangochi through John Chilembwe Highway about 25 kilometers away from the venue.

Mia also warned Minister of Homeland Security Nicholas Dausi and his deputy Charles Mchacha saying that any form of bloodshed will solely be their responsibility.
