The police in Balaka on Sunday detained two personal assistants for the Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima on charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

Eastern police public relations officer Joseph Sauka confirmed of the arrest and identified the two as Kush Unyolo and Joshua Valera.

According to police, the two committed the offence at the launch of Chiwanja cha Ayao cultural event in Balaka where they represented the Vice President who was at a funeral.

The two will appear before Balaka magistrate court to answer the charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace this morning.

Chilima and UTM sympathizers on Sunday evening stormed Balaka police to push for their release, but to no avail.
