At least three people were killed and hundreds of people were injured in a train collision in South Africa on Tuesday, 8 January.

The crashed happened at Mountain View train station in the north of Pretoria, South Africa’s capital, derailing two trains.

“We have got two confirmed fatalities, and we have got different emergency services on site,” Charles Mabaso, an emergency services official told Reuters.

Emergency responders say between 100 and 150 were injured in the collision and an air ambulance was called in to fly the injured to hospital.
